Plane accident leaves two dead

According to the Federal Aviation Administration, an airplane accident that occurred on Feb. 22 claimed the lives of two men, who were the sole occupants of the plane. New Yorkers may have heard about the accident, which took place shortly after 9 a.m. when the plane began its flight at Dillingham Airfield located on Oahu's North Shore in Hawaii.

Authorities report that the airplane, a Cessna 305-A that was registered with Honolulu Soaring, crashed and came to land on its back. When medical personnel arrived at the scene shortly after the crash, one of the plane's occupants had already succumbed to his injuries. The other victim was taken to a nearby local hospital where he died of his injuries shortly after his arrival.

At the time of the report, investigators were still trying to uncover the cause of the plane accident. According to the news report, both victims were experienced pilots, and one of them was a flight instructor.

Sometimes, it may take some time for authorities to determine the cause of a vehicle or small plane accident, especially where no evidence, such as eyewitness accounts or surveillance footage, exists. The victims' surviving family members may wish to consult a personal injury attorney who is experienced in accidents such as this one. An attorney may offer assistance that might result in holding a party responsible for losses. It could be the plane manufacturer, or the company through which the plane is registered may be liable for damages. In this case, Honolulu Soaring, a flight school that supplied the plane, might be at fault for the accident. Factors such as the plane's age, whether the pilot had liability insurance and how often the plane was maintained could play a key in determining a party's negligence that led to the accident.
