Survivor recalls final moments of doomed flight

It is easy to fly from one part of the world to another without thinking much of it. But there are some astonishing feats of human engineering at work in an atmosphere with a lot of hazards. Some of those hazards are unpredictable even to the people who build and operate airplanes.

A man on a recent flight that ended in disaster reported that all was well until relatively soon before the crash. The pilot went on the intercom to report that the landing may be "troublesome." The next thing in the man's memory is waking up amid chaos after the plane struck a neighborhood near the destination airport.

"I saw so much smoke and fire. I heard people crying, children crying," the plane crash victim said. He was able to survive by pulling himself from the wreckage and attracting the attention of an ambulance crew.

According to an exchange between the pilot and air traffic controllers, the jet lost an engine shortly before the incident. The victim was one of two survivors of the crash. The disaster claimed at least 97 lives, including entire families traveling in advance of a religious holiday. Survivors of the victims are mourning their losses and working out how to move on.

The loss of a loved one in a plane crash is often an unprecedented event for people and families. As well as emotional support, financial damages may also help facilitate the difficult process of recovery. An attorney can help counsel people on the benefits of suing airlines and other responsible parties in this case.
