Commercial plane crash fatalities cut in half from 2018 to 2019

It's often said that flying is safer than driving, but some people still have trouble putting their trust in airlines. For those who do fly, there is good news – worldwide, the number of deaths from commercial airplane crashes was down by more than 50% in 2019 than there were in 2018.

This is due, at least in part, to improvements in the airline industry. With each crash that occurs, more information about how safety can be improved comes up. The reduction in deaths from 2018 to 2019 isn't abnormal. Even though the airline industry was seeing a steady increase in business, the number of fatalities continues to fall.

The only year-to-year exception for this was from 2017 to 2018. Interestingly, there were only 13 deaths stemming from two fatal crashes involving turboprops in 2017. No passenger jets were associated with any fatal crashes. In 2018, there were 13 fatal crashes that resulted in 534 deaths.

Despite the vast improvements that have come in the airline industry, there's always a chance that a crash will occur. For the victims of these crashes who survive, massive life changes follow. Sadly, some will perish if there's an airliner crash.

Individuals who are injured in a passenger jet crash and the loved ones of those who don't survive the crash may look into the possibility of seeking compensation. It's imperative that they work with an attorney who is familiar with these cases because they are often complex. Taking legal action quickly after the crash is important because state laws limit the amount of time you have to file.
